Vincentfest

Vincent J. Kral (1973-2024) was an artist who exhibited throughout the United States, using performance, pop culture, and digital media to engage with people. Born in Iowa, Vince spent his adult life in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, where he quickly became a beloved fixture in the regional art scene. Vince led many community-focused projects, including the Hatchway Gallery, A Different Frame of Mind exhibition, and So You Think You Can Paint. He was always open to collaborating, while also curating his own shows and helping friends with installations. He was named Best Fine Arts Community Champion by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay critics in 2015.

Vince earned his BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Electronic Media from USF in 2007, and his MFA in Studio Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2020. He worked for more than a decade as Curator of the Corporate Partnership Program and Chief Preparator for USFCAM. He leaves behind a prolific body of artwork in the form of videos, songs, photos, paintings, costumes, altered objects, dioramas, and more. Woven throughout Vince Kral‘s art practice was a tireless joy for performance. He had a character for every occasion, ready to make people laugh.
