Meet the Team

Kristine

Hairdresser, salon owner, and lifelong creative with over 20 years behind the chair. I specialize in low-maintenance hair that works with your natural texture, color, and real life — whether that means effortless lived-in hair or vivid dopamine color that makes you feel like yourself.

My approach is collaborative, judgment-free, and rooted in helping people fall in love with the hair they already have while creating something uniquely theirs. I’m inspired by music, color, astrology, gardening, and sustainability, we have built an inclusive studio environment where creativity and comfort go hand in hand.

Whether you’re looking for subtle, natural beauty or something totally out of the box, I’m here to help you create hair that feels good to live in.

At The Disco Dolls, sustainability isn’t a trend for me — it’s woven into every part of what I do. From thoughtfully sourcing small, women-owned, and eco-conscious brands for the boutique to creating an inclusive salon space that focuses on healthy hair and low-waste practices, I believe beauty and style can exist without excess. I’m passionate about helping people shop and care for themselves more intentionally, investing in pieces and routines that feel authentic, long-lasting, and joyful. My goal has always been to create a space that feels inspiring, welcoming, creative, and a little magical — where self-expression and sustainability can coexist naturally.

Leigh Anne

Hi, I’m Leigh Anne Balzekas, Co-owner and Designer at The Disco Dolls Studio. I was trained as a fashion designer and spent many years honing my skill set, experimenting, and working for other people in their businesses.  These experiences prepared me and gave me a unique perspective when I started The Disco Dolls Studio with my sister Kristine.

I am not afraid of any fabric. I relish the challenge of working with all types of textures and drapes. I believe in working with the fabric and form to create a comfortable stylish relationship. From the beginning of my journey in fashion and entrepreneurship, I held a deep conviction to do things in an ethical way. What that means to me is honoring people and the planet before profit. We have imbued this value into all parts of The Disco Dolls Studio and Disco Dolls Designs.  I love all animals, but I am a cat lady at heart, my partner and I have 5 rescues at home. Before you ask, yes, they have their own insta @ljcatclowder. I am inspired by music art, and other creators. When I need to shake things up, I dance it out!

I am a visual and tactile designer and believe that comfort does not have to be sacrificed for style. I love creating performance looks whether that performance is on a stage, at your wedding, or going to the grocery store. Through our design line “The Uniform Project” I aim to create classic silhouettes that are convertible to your unique style and shape. In the boutique, I am here to help you discover what sustainable luxury is about, I love having conversations about skincare, perfume, and tarot decks”

I hope to chat with you soon, stop by the shop or send me a message on my personal page IG @leighannebalzekas

Tracy

Three decades behind the chair and still evolving - your quietly confident, Gen X survivor stylist who does it all without the noise. Not a one-trick pony, but a thoughtful, thorough creative who delivers effortless cuts, from sharp short shapes to long, layered flow and razor work that moves naturally. Color lives here too - whether you’re into soft, lived-in dimension or bold, vivid statements. I listen first, then create. Expect an uber-chill vibe, zero pressure, and yes … silent appointments are always welcome.

Off the clock, you’ll find me piddling in the yard, rescuing treasures while antiquing and thrifting, or tending to my plants with my two kittens, Astro and Nova, nearby. A little wild, a little witchy, and fully free - bringing that same grounded, creative energy into every appointment.

Master Hairdresser

Corey

Hi, I’m Corey, a certified color specialist and licensed cosmetologist since 2013. I like to keep things fun and collaborative in the salon, and my favorite part about doing hair is helping you feel a little bit more like yourself. I work with everything from natural, lived-in looks to more vivid tones and creative color placements. I also love creating haircuts that feel personal, expressive, and easy to style every day.

I am a big fan of nature, good conversations, music festivals, PLUR, and anything a little outside the box. See you in the studio!

I've been making people look and feel like the best version of themselves for longer than I care to admit — which, as a Gen X girl, means I've survived every trend from the '80s on and lived to tell about it. Whether you're dreaming of old Hollywood glamour, a full-on fantasy transformation, or something so natural people will just think you woke up that way, I can get you there. Hair, makeup, special events, editorial — I do it all, and I do it without taking myself too seriously.

I'm Tampa born and bred, and if you want to find me on my days off, check the Tampa Theatre first. There's something about that 100-year-old movie palace that just feeds my soul — the architecture, the history, the sheer audacity of it. That love of all things vintage and a little dramatic carries straight into my work. I'm also mildly (okay, deeply) obsessed with organization, so your getting-ready experience will be calm, coordinated, and on time, even if the day around it isn't.

When I'm not behind a makeup chair, I'm painting. Specifically, I take commissions to immortalize the four-legged loves of people's lives — pets deserve to be on canvas, full stop. I share my home and my studio with more cats than I'll publicly confirm, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Life's too short for boring beauty and a pet-free house.

Makeup Artist and Special Event Stylist

Summer

I have been a part of The Disco Dolls world since 2010, and I’ve been so pleased to offer in-person astrology consultations in our private “esoteric services room” since 2023. I am a professional astrologer verified by Nightlight Astrology, where I completed a three-year curriculum in Hellenistic Astrology under Adam Elenbaas. Since then, I’ve also completed programs in Evolutionary Astrology, electional astrology, horary, and various other advanced techniques under various other teachers. Astrology is a vast field of study that challenges and expands our way of understanding and describing reality, and I will be a lifelong student.

In consultations, my approach is NOT to dictate how you’re going to feel or what you’re going to do. Rather, I facilitate a conversation where, together, using the symbolic, oracular language of astrology, we connect the dots in the story of your life to give you perspective and help you make meaning. Regular check-ins like this, over time, can help us become symbolic thinkers and make us feel connected to patterns larger than ourselves. I consider it the privilege of a lifetime to open these doors for you!

As “Your Friendly Neighborhood Astrologer.” I’m here to make this ancient, elegant, and frequently-misunderstood practice relevant and accessible to you. Please don’t hesitate to approach me or any of our staff with questions about whether and how astrology can help. See you when the stars align.

I am a St. Petersburg native, but love Tampa equally as much. I love reading, talking about food and watching Murder She Wrote.

I love working at the Disco Dolls because it feels like it matters. You may come in just to get a trim or pick up an amazing gift, but you leave knowing you're apart of a community. One that wants to build you up and watch your back. Where the money you spend is building a business that is aware, conscious and cares about the world we live in.

We have great art too!

Hello! I’m a graphic designer, nature lover, book worm, and a menagerie owner. If I’m not working, you can catch me out adventuring with my husband and son around the city.

I am lucky to work at Disco Dolls at the front desk. I greatly enjoy yap sessions with our guests and getting first looks a new products coming into the store. I have been a customer for 10+ years, and an excitable employee for 3. Does my paycheck go right back into the store? Definitely.

I do not know a stranger, so if you have questions, want advice on a garment, or just up for a chat - come see me! It’s my favorite part of my job!
